The Iraqi's

As we all know, the Iraqi elections have been going on for about 8 hours now. There have already been several small attacks in which 22 people have been killed thus far. Let's hope that's the end of it and that these people will be allowed to safely vote and go about their day as we do.

For those of you who pray, keep them in your prayers, for those of you who don't, keep them in your thoughts, and lets hope it turns out ok.

They will certainly be present in my thoughts all day long - as in most days, actually. But I'm not feeling so optimistic about them "returning to their normal lives like we do" :-(

They've actually been going on since Friday around the world. I went to a discussion (not much of a discussion, everyone was right wing except one little lady from the UN) at the University of San Diego on Friday night and they were all praising how wonderful our invasion was and how wonderful Bush is. It was sickening. Fortunately there was a retired army officer there who got up and told them what he thought of them and Bush, until they silenced him.

I came out of the discussion learning one thing though--we're in this situation and the best we can hope that will come out of it is that the Iraqis will have some form of democratic government. If it just goes back to what it was before all will be wasted.

Our troops will be there for years to come.

Good luck to them all. I thought it would go worse than the latest nes that I have heard.
